After ripping up my vinyl flooring - there is the paper residue stuff left over - it is not coming up easily!

Can I ditra over that, or should i put more wood down. I do have some self leveling cement stuff that i will be putting down in spots - should I 'skim coat' the whole floor?

Thanks

You cannot use true Self Levelling Compound in just "spots", floor patch yes SLC no.:)

The remaining product is basically a "paper-like felt" type product and some warm water soaking should help you to scrape it up.

DITRA must be firmly attached to the substrate and going over what I see there isn't going to be recommended.:)

What you have is typical.

I think i have some floor patch around here too! I might just go with cement backer board instead of trying to get that stuff up (tried water and heat gun.... ) more plywood + ditra might make the transition a bit too much.

Is ditra really that superior to Cement backerboards? All I hear is how wonderful ditra is - but is the cement stuff 'just as good'?

Thanks
