Kitchen Large Electric Appliances - Whirlpool Dishwasher

Hello all, I have a Whirlpool dishwasher that I thought the motor went bad. A couple of days before it quit it was making noise, long story short I pulled the unit out from under the counter and pulled apart the motor. ( it is fine ) from reading some of your posts I heard about a possible bearing problem... I cannot get the shaft to come out from the bottom of the dishwasher. I can't read the model and serial # but this unit has no belt...is there a special tool or have I over looked something...Please help..I feel that I am close but don't want to mess anything up by pulling on it. Thanks for your help, it means alot...John..from the mountains of western N C...:)

How old is the dw? If it's newer, not like 10 years old or more, most likely ither the bearing is bad or the coupling between the motor and the pump. Both scenarios would require replaceing the pump/motor assembly. You might find some help here:

Hello Daddyjohn, Thank you very much. Yes the link does help me, I looked at it for a couple of min's. the dishwasher must be at least 8 yrs old. Yesterday I called the local parts house and asked how much a motor would be and they said about 140 dollars...With that being said.. I just might put some money in to a new one. But I will take this one apart to see what is wrong with it...( I got nothing to lose ) and I might learn something...Just for laughs my dad was named John and I am a dad....Thanks for your help...I mean that...Be safe...John 44yrs old and bald as my kids would say...LOL:)
