I removed some ceramic(I think) tile(8") from my basement floor with a jackhammer. It came up pretty tough, and took about 8 hours for a 12' by 15' area. The grout is seemingly concrete, and very much of it is still on my concrete floor. I plan to put down cork floor, but I'm sure this grout issue is impeding that because there are big areas where the grout is sticking up around 1/2".
Any ideas to level my floor or remove the grout?
I've considered re-renting the jackhammer, but it was a mess(oily/quite heavy/made a cloud of dust everywhere). Is there a cleaner way to do this? Like with some type of solvent, and a wire brush maybe? I've also considered levelling the floor, but this area is about 1/3 of the full floor I'm installing cork on.
I have asked questions on this forum, and gotten excellent advice & help, so here I go again. PLease, ANY help would be greatly appreciated! Don't hold back on something you would assume is obvious, as I don't have a clue!
Thanks

My best suggestion is to rent a chipping hammer with a flat chisel type tool and go after the remaining grout residue. There is no chemical solution to this.:)
