Our floor was damaged several weeks ago when a pipe froze and then broke while I was away at work. The floor was covered by a 1/4" of water for about 10 hours I am guessing. The floor is a gluedown to concrete, which was installed about 8 years ago. I am wondering how clean it will need to be before they lay the new floor down? Right now it is like walking on fly paper with 10,000 wood slivers stuck to it. Should I have them remove all of the old adhesive? From what I have gathered so far it is all a matter of a lot of hardwork and elbow grease from reading other threads.

The contractor had two guys here yesterday for 8 hours. The total square footage being removed is around 550. This job was quoted at $1650. The job quote stated, take up, haul away, move and reset furniture and appliances. They finished about 400 sqft yesterday and will be back this morning to remove the rest. Should I expect them to remove the adhesive to a residue for this amount?

The new installation will be a solid 3/4" hardwood floor glued down to the concrete. This will be done using SikaBond T55. This fairly new product I've have been told will allow 3/4" HW to be glued to concrete. This was not an option 8 years ago. Is it a good idea or should I stick with engineered flooring. We have been looking a Luazon and Mirage.

Any advice is greatly appreciated!!
