Hi guys!

I'm new here. Recently purchased a home that had a swamp cooler as its only cooling system. We had to replace the furnace and decided to add an a/c to the system. Now we're stuck with a swamp cooler that we do not want. It is mounted on the roof. It has one LARGE duct that goes down and vents in the upstairs hallway.

What we would like to do is remove the swamp cooler and use the hole for an electric attic vent. Where we live it can get up to 115 in the summer. We would rather give the new a/c system a boost with an active roof vent. Do any of you know where we could find a vent that will fill such a large hole? Is there a company that makes a vent just for this purpose?

Another use we have found is to convert it to a skylight. Don't care to go that route. Would rather make it useful and vent out hot air. Currently the house has passive vents on both ends of the house (on the sides - not on the roof).

THANKS for your help!

Can cover the hole like a cap on it. that way you dont screw up the flashing around it. So cap it then put a vwnt fan for the attic on it. Attic sq ft X 0.7 == CFM of vent fan.
