I wanna update my smoke alarms. I only have the battery ones now, one in attic, basement, 2 on first fl. and 2 on second floor.
I wanted to buy hardwired ones when I was rewiring my house w/ new elec. about 2 yrs ago and never had time. I found these Kidde interconnected wireless ones. Does anyone on here have these?? Are they any good?? They say if one goes off they all go off and you can put a main detector on each floor then have these other ones set on your night stand or mount on the wall in each of the bedrooms. Your opinion is greatly appreciated!!! THANKS

If you have access to your attic you must interconnect by hardwire when you rewire a home in my area. If you have a basement you can do the first floor someway, somehow! Here's what we recommend. One smoke in each bedroom. One co detector in the hall, 2nd floor. One co detector/smoke combo 1st floor one smoke/co combo 15 feet from the furnace. You can still finish this job. I have seen and heard of the radio controlled models. These were not yet approved in a village where I just upgraded the wiring on a home. I dont think there is a provsion yet in the codes. Call your local fire dept. and ask there advice on this. You should have done this when you rewired the home! Your not "updating" by adding these new ones. They still have batteries. Sorry I dont know there reliability. They are too new. Maybe they can be hardwired at least for power. Generally if you hardwire it must be from an unswitched source, and label the panel. Maybe a fire tech will chime in here and advise you also.

Very easy installation but after 6 months they have become super sensitive to humidity. They go off any time anyone takes a shower anywhere in the house. I have sent 2 messages to Kidde in the last week and have not recieved a response yet. My wife is ready to blow so they will all probably come down this weekend.:wall: :wall:
