Dear Sirs:
I am fairly handy but thus far I am unable to track down a problem with my cheap Haier fridge.
When the freezer stayed cold but the fridge warmed a while back, someone else successfully pointed me to the fan behind the freezer back as stopping, which I got started by hand again. I disconnected, cleaned, and thoroughly defrosted the unit, then started it up again.
The fridge is working now (a little less than 4 years old), but only with my constant attention. The compressor seems to be cycling on and off okay. The defrost circuit also seems to be operating correctly, coming on every ten hours, the heating element warming and melting okay, etc. Yet in between the defrost cycles there is a good deal of frost/ice forming in the freezer vent baffles and elswhere in the freezer, so much so that the fan often stops again. I am always able to get it started with just a little push, but it may not always be at its maximum speed.
I am unable to figure out whether a fan going bad could be the cause of such a problem, or whether it is just a symptom of something else wrong. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much in advance.

Hi,
I'm sorry I am unfamiliar with your problem, but if you visit this web page: http://www.fixya.com/support/haier/refrigerators
It is dedicated specifically to Haier troubleshooting. If you can't find your problem there, come back here and we'll try something else.(and not everyone here is a "sir":)

Connie:
Thank you for the reply and sorry about the "Sirs." I am well aware that many women are better than many men at many things and I think that is terrific. Back in grade school I recall being told that "Dear Sirs" was the most proper salutation if sex was initially unknown, but perhaps I was goofing off as usual and not really listening, and even if I was listening things have probably changed since then.
I have been to Fixya and they were initially terrific, leading me right to the fan quitting in the freezer, but then for this latest symptom there has not been a lot of response. Perhaps they are just not sure like you and me. That is okay. Thank you, madam.:)

You are most welcome!
Perhaps someone else will come along and notice your post and my inadequate reply, take pity on us and supply the correct answer!
(If not, try resubmitting your question. Sometimes there are so many, if a responder sees a question is answered, he/she may not take time to read.) Good luck to you

Try spraying some wd-40 on the fan motor & see if that keeps it running. If not, fan motor probably needs replaced. Not a hard job once the back panel is removed.
