Hi all,

I am about to put hardwood flooring on my living, dinning and family rooms. My stair is oak, should I stick with oak for the hardwood or do I have other options? What have you seen around?
Not sure if it makes difference but the stair won't meet the hardwood flooring but will be quite close. My entrace, where the stair is, has ceramic.
The reason for my question is that I think an oak hardwood floor will be too much oak, giving an old/outdated look.

Thanks for any input.

Not sure about the "outdated" part but what will you do when the flooring of your choice (if it won't be the oak) becomes outdated?

If it's your house and you're staying in there for quite some time..go with what YOU like (IMO). Whether you go with oak or not.

My parents house has the same wood floors on the stairs as well as the family and living room and have a cermaic entrance. I think it's "common" to have wood floors the same throughout the house.

Just my opinion. I'm sure others will chime in here so check back. :)
