My basement exterior walls are all insulated but I've added on interior partition walls. They are steel studded and will sound hollow without some insulation. Is it necessary to insulate interior walls for some sound proofing and to reduce the hollowness, and if so, I'm assuming vapor barrier is not required for interior walls? I've seen this in office interior wall partitions that were steel studs.

It wont hurt to insulate them. They make insulation for steel studs that is a full 16 inches wide and tucks in nicely. I think "Knoff" or Knauf, oh I dont remember the spelling. Here's the best stuff though. Mineral wool! It is the worst stuff I ever worked with in the trades. Its so miserable that they even use it for firestopping! Darn good sound barrier though. Just wanted to give you a choice! (go with 16" batts made for these studs). Good Luck!
