I am considering curtains on 6' sliding patio door in dining area. Not sure what type looks best. It get pretty hot during the day especially in summer due to the fact it faces South. We have a deck so we frequently are coming in and out. What type of curtain would look best? Pleated, tab top etc? Terms are new to me, pinch pleated curtain look nice and can be purchased w/thermal backs. The dual panel curtain set up looks nice too as well as tab top on rods. There is a corrisponding window of same 6' width in living area next to patio. So some ideas and suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Looks as well as versitility a plus. Thanks

Since you'll be wanting to open and close them, some type of pleats (pinch pleat is good) would be best, not only for function, but so you can stack them off the door if you want to. If you have enough wall space on both sides, you can have a center draw (or 2 panels if on rings), but if wall space is tight, you may need to do one wide panel so you can draw to one side. Tab tops and Rodpockets do not slide open and closed easily, so they're best used for stationery panels only. I'm not familar with the dual panel set.
If the window in the living room is seen from the dining room and right next to it, you might want to hang the same draperies or ones that coordinate with the slider fabric so they flow well with each other.
