I'm moving to an old house (1950) that has a picture window and on each side of that a regular size window. I am at a loss of what kind of window treatment to do. This is in the livingroom that faces a street. The old treatments were pleated that ran the length of all the windows. I'm really short on cash but need something soon. The walls are a nuetral eggshell color. Please help...as I have no decorating skills whatsoever.

Hi,
Do you sew at all? This was an easy fix for temporary housing that I used years ago...
I bought cheap sheets on sale at a discount store. I sewed one straight line across the top, one and a half inches below the top of the sheet. That made a rod pocket at the top of the sheet. Then I cut off the extra length and hemmed them. (I even used the leftover sheet to make pillows to match! ) No one ever knew my curtains were made from sheets!

Sounds like my house :D Just to be clear, I'm not sure if you have 3 or 5 windows. If the panels that are there now are in good enough condition, maybe you could consider leaving them there until you're able to replace them with something you really like. Another option would be RediShades that you can buy in big box stores, that are really temporary shades that you cut to size. Ikea has inexpensive shades and panels. If you already have a rod there, you can just buy new panels.
