We have just finished installing porcelain tile in our kitchen. This is a new home and the tile was installed over duralock cement board(that was put down with thin set and screws on a 3/4 in Advantec tongue and groove subfloor). We are now planning the tile project for our master bath and have been reading about Ditra and are considering using it rather than the duralock. I would like to ask if there are any additional preparations for using Ditra and am also curious what others prefer. From the information I've read, the Ditra seems much, much easier and less time consuming. Thoughts? Advice?

Schluter Ditra is a great product and easy to install. You just apply it your your subfloor with a thinset.

Just make sure your subfloor is suitable for tile. You will have to do a deflection calculation which is based upon your joist sizes and spacing, and unsupported span.

Ditra is indeed easier, and better than any CBU. The only negative is it costs more, but it's worth it. It's not that Ditra is too expensive...just that cement boards are very cheap.
