I'm upgrading a bathroom in my basement...house built 1945 block/brick. Local code official tells me I must put R11 insulation in below grade. Was planning on putting 3/4 inch DOW styrofoam up directly to the wall with 1X2 furring for half-inch drywall resulting in a 2inch wall...but that won't meet the R11. I'm really limited on space (Have an inch at most to play with to meet code for distance in front of toilet) so looking for any suggestions that would get me to R11 and minimize the thickness of the finished wall. Thoughts???

Look for Isocyanurate foam board.

It is about 7.5 per inch. More money per sf, but is better insulator.

There are several manuafacturers.
