Hi, I want to remove a load bearing wall between the kitchen and the living room, the span is 14'. In top of this wall there is a second floor and the roof, the hip is paralell to the wall and the roof is ready for 40#s snow load. I'm thinking to use 3-9 1/4"x14' and I would like to know if that could be enough or maybe just 2-9 1/4 and also what kind of post should I use ( 4x4's or maybe the metal columns that are ready for 15000#'s extended six feet)?
Thank you for the help. I will be pulling the permit like a home owner.
