Afternoon,

Recently had a dim-able torchiere lamp stop working. Simple bulb replace didn't work, and it doesn't appear that it was designed to be able to replace the ballast.

Anyway, instead of throwing it away I figured I could probably buy a replacement socket and convert it to a normal incandescent fixture.

Lamp has four wires (white, black, red (labeled ground), and red.

The replacement sockets i've found are missing the non-ground red wire. I couldn't care less if this lamp was only on/off. If I wire-nut the extra red to another wire, will this lamp work?
