New 5.5 H.P. Craftsman snowblower worked great for about one hour out of the box. Actually started on the 1st pull and moved the snow as expected.
Then it suddenly became erratic, backfired and quit. Unable to restart. After 1/2 hour it started on 1st pull, idled fine but not much power under load. Now have to run in lowest gear and no take in too much snow. Engine doesn't seem to be compensating for the increased load.
Drained fuel tank and carb and bought some fresh gas. No help, it's a dog. Tried for exchange but no blowers left and Sears warranty repair and other shops are backed for several weeks.
That's a 5.5Hp Tecumseh engine, model LH195SP. Also, I have to run 1/2 choke to maintain what power there is. Gas cap vent is clear.

You may want to check the bowl nut which is also the main jet, Make sure there is no trash in either hole and both are open.
I borrowed this pic from geogrubb, I hope he doesn't mind....
