Yes, but there are perhaps some simpler things you could do. Shut off the circuit breaker (not just the wall switch) and gently lift the tab in the bottom of the socket. Also clean it. That might solve your problem all by itself.
If flicker is a slow flicker and not a fast flicker, you may have a thermal protect problem. Make sure your bulb is within the limits of the can and trim. If in doubt, reduce the bulb size to 75 watts or lower.
