Another dumb question, I bought pocket curtains (only ones I found to match room) I figured that they would be alright to open and close in the day/night, now after reading this board I figured out that they should be stationary. I'm now wondering if it would be alright to use clip rings on them so they can be opened during the day and closed at night. Or do you think that this might look funny because of the pockets? Also how many clips will I need for the curtains/drapes are 54" wide and will be on a solid rod
I'm new to curtains my house has always had blinds and now I want a new more finished look. Thanks for the help.

Since I make custom draperies, I don't care for rings clipped on a rodpocket since the stitching lines will show, however, a lot of people do that, and don't seem to mind it, so if it doesn't bother you, then it's OK.
How many rings you need depends on how much droop you want between rings. If you don't want any droop, then put one every 5-6", if you want a slight droop, then every 7-8".
I have to warn you though, when they're flat like that without any pleats, you need to fix and fuss with them a bit to try to even out the rings every time you open and close them, or they're going to look a bit messy since the rings will stop just about anywhere. Having more rings and putting them closer will help somewhat, but you might reconsider and buy pinch pleats if you plan on opening and closing daily.
