if this is the aluminum corroding, the best way to help, is to coat the inside of the aluminum socket with vaseline or weather proofing compound. moisture and heat, fuses the bulb to the socket. if its always burning out, the base of the bulb is not reaching inside the recessed socket deep enough and some arcing may be going on, make sure the centre tab of the socket is well lifted high from its support ... WITH THE POWER / FUSES REMOVED from the circuit !!! the bulb will unscrew really easy, years from now!
