I just installed a new Oak entry door and I need to apply a sealant or weatherproofing for protection. I'm looking for a recommendation on which type/brand of sealant or weatherproofing I should use.

Sand the door with 220 grit - be sure to sand with the direction of the grain, stain or leave natural, then apply 3 coats of a spar varnish or urathane. Minwax's helmans is probably the easiest to find.

Depending on the exposure the door gets, you may need to sand and recoat yearly.

Don't forget to also put a coat of urathane on the top and bottom edges/sides of the door.
