What's a good place I could get an unfinished, decorative piano bench? Odd request, I know, but we've got a piano that's mainly for show (although I do play) and it would look a lot nicer with a wooden seat of some kind. I'd like to paint it myself, or have my wife do it (not that she's my slave, or anything, she's actually pretty good with a brush). Ikea and Home Depot seem to be oblivious to the market potential of these items (hehe).

Two places come to mind. Several of the unfinished furniture stores have carried unfinished piano stools. Check with them to see if they can order a bench.
Also, check with your local piano retailer. Many times, they have access to unfinished items or know of an individual that will fabricate one for you.
Beyond that, the only other thing I can think of is to start checking out the used furniture stores and see if they have an older one or have them keep an eye out for one.
Good luck,
CD

Thanks! Actually, I think some local flea markets and salvage places may hold interesting potential as well. Thanks for the additional tips.
