We need help. Our ventless propane fireplace which is 5 years old has now started putting out soot when we burn it. Does anyone know what to do about fixing this problem? It used to burn cleanly. Thank-you~

Soot is an indication of poor combustion. My manual says to not let the flames touch the logs as this will cause soot. I suggest checking your manual for routine maintenance. Mine says to clean the burner every year to remove dust and dirt. Spider webs are a common problem that effects the gas/air mix resulting in poor combustion.

Sooting is a sign of improper log placement, pressure issues or it is in need of proper servicing. Along with soot, you are getting carbon monoxide!!!! Your owner's manual will tell you that it needs to be serviced annually.

Vent free gas logs are a great source of additional heat.......if properly maintained.
