I have a new pneumatic door closer which I have replaced many times before. This particular one seems to work just fine while holding it.I can addjust it to slow or fast. But when I attach it to the door ,the door slams as if the pnuematic door closer was not there.I take it off and operate it by hand and it slowly closes.Put back on the door and it has no pressure. This is used on a combination storm door
What gives?
Thanks

Read the installation instructions again to make sure that it is properly installed on the door. If it is, then turn the adjusting screw clockwise, 1/4 turn at a time, to slow the closing speed. If this doesn't work, you might have a defective closer.

When the storm door is closed, is the closest edge of the closure bracket 1/4" from the edge of the storm door like the instructions call for?

Is it a storm door or a regular door? My mind was working differently than the others.
