I want to clean the glass doors on my fireplace. They have a somewhat brown look:( to the upper half of them as if they've gotten hot, or some type of soot/creosote has collected on them.

Can anyone tell me what has works well in cleaning fireplace glass. (FWIW, windex won't even touch it, and vinegar is also ineffective.)

thanks in advance,

Kelly

Any hardware, or home improvement store should have a cleaner for fireplace glass. I have used them and they work very well.

Try to find a product called White-Off. It is made for fireplace glass. Use a non ammonia cleaner like Windex with vinegar.

scrap all the store bought cleaners.....

except windex.
get a finer grit sanding sponge and windex. wet the glass down heavily and lightly use the sander, almost like wet sanding a car during paint. this will save time and more importantly your elbow. tricks of the trade!!!!

Fume free oven cleaner works. I have used brillo pad and ammonia.
