To All,
I have Kenmore gas dryer. Model 110.72612101. When I start the dryer heat is coming out, timer is running, but drum is not rotating.
I am guessing belt might be the problem. Please help!!!
Thanks,

Hello iacct101. Welcome to the Gas Appliances topic and the Do-It-Yourself Web Site.
Technically, the dryer should not operate at all when the drum does not rotate for any reason. The safety device should shut off all operations.
If the belt is broken, the micro safety switch on the belt pulley will not close. Shutting off all operations. If the motor does not operate and the belt isn't broken, the drum should not rotate either. The motor also operates the fan blower.
In either case, broken belt or defective motor that does not operate, the entire dryer should not operate. Meaning no heat. How come there is heat in your dryer when the drum does not rotate is a mystery.
If the drum does not rotate and there is heat, do not use the dryer until the problem is fixed. Remove the panels and inspect the belt and motor. Either one may be the cause. Fix as needed.
Some advice and suggestions below:
First thing to do is remove that rear panel,if there is one and note how the belt loops over and under all the pulleys. Make a drawing of such on paper. During new belt installation you will be glad you have that hand drawing.
You will need to next need to remove the front panel which contains the door. May have to lift the top to do so either first or after front panel is removed. Look for screws in the door frame, below at the base of the front panel, etc.
When you finally gain access, the likely hood is the drum or rotating tube will fall down wards. Not to worry. The drum or tube fits into a housing, usually plastic, which supports it.
Remove old belt and install new belt onto the drum/tube exactly as the old one is and exactly in the same place on the drum or tube. Than place the new belt over and under the pulleys per the drawing.
Next, in the front on the support, note the pads the drum or rotating tube rotates on. If they are worn replace them now while the machine is apart.
Be sure to note how the drum is installed into the support frame attached to the front panel which houses the door. There will also be some type of felt used to insulate the drum as it revolves.
The felt strip may also need to be replaced. Replacing the pads while having the cabinet apart is also a good idea. Removing all the accumulated lint inside the cabinet and all that is accumulated in the entire exhaust venting system is also recommended.
Be sure to unplug the appliance from the electrical power and turn off the gas at the gas valve before attempting any repairs.
An excellent source for original replacement parts is your local retail appliance parts store. Parts dealers are listed in the phone book. Bring the make, model and serial numbers if you stop in at the store. The info will help to determine the exact parts used in the model assembly line run.
