Does anyone know why the Watts Flowmatic Zero Waste filters say they have to be installed at least 25 feet away from your hot water heater?

I sort of found my answer in this thread (http://forum.doityourself.com/showthread.php?t=257032). "It's to protect the ro membrane from potential heat backflow." If this is the case then wouldn't the 25 foot requirement include the length of the plastic waste tube? So wouldn't 15 feet of copper pipe and at least 10 feet of the plastic tubing be sufficient?
