1976 Caloric gas oven w/bottom broiler. Replaced ignitor two times in last six months. Ignitor part number Maytag 77001258. Both failures have had lead wire come loose at crimp connection with connection heat discolored like it became loose. Both ignitor parts came from same store. Previous ignitor lasted five years.

What should the amperage range be? Voltage is 124 volts AC at lead connection when cold.

What is voltage drop when hot?

What is voltage drop when hot?

Norton style (flat, rectangle)
Amperage range 3.2-3.6
Volts at gas valve 3.03- 3.3

Carborundum style (round)
Amperage 2.5-3.0
Volts at gas valve 3.3-4.0
Igniter must be matched to gas valve. Most all gas valves (Eaton brand) will have a yellow label that shows values and have a picture of the igniter style. Although at times they may be impossible to see.
