Designing Kitchens and Bathrooms - Fish Pond Liner as Custom Tub?

I need to replace a corner shower in a basement. Since we want a tub, but there is really no room, if colour is not an issue, and a proper frame was built, could a fish pond liner (since they come in so many shapes and sizes) be used as a custom bathtub? If it is possible, what would need to be done differently than putting in a fiberglass bathtub?

Just to clarify, you want to build a tiled tub? Aka "Roman tub"? It can be done but EPMD which is the material for pond liners is not compatible with mortars. It breaks down with mortars. Not a problem when you are lining a dirt hole. You could probably do it with reinforced block walls, mudded to create a slope and then waterproofed with a product such as Kerdi or Nobleseal TS, utilizing either company's clamping ring drain flashing. 2" clamping ring drain reduced to accommodate the standard 1 1/2" tub drain overflow assembly which you could set after busting up enough of the slab. You'd also need to figure a way to waterproof the length of the overflow tube through the block on that side.

This would not be a wood frame and cement board type project.

No, not a Roman tub. I want to use a premolded liner, NOT the rubber liner.
