Our 30 year old brick house in Costa Rica has 2 fire places, One downstairs and the other directly above upstairs using the same chiminey. (both fireplaces have a 4" concrete pipe entering the chiminey space, and exiting the roof near the chiminey stack. I am told this an air injection method. Anyway, they both smoke! Ahhhhh I am all smoked out and sick of the problem. I have tried blocking the pipes, cracking different windows, doors on the front, searching the net, nothing works. I can not find anyone here that knows chimineys, but have had several suggestions on an extraction fan. Does anyone know if this works? I am desperate!
