I have a very noisy Broan economy fan in my 1st floor half bath. I wanted to switch it out for a Panasonic or other quiet model. With no access from above, will this even be possible? I know this is kind of vague, but I'm just trying to get an idea if I should explore this idea further. For all I know, bath fans are universally sized and this would be an easy project.

Thanks for any advice.

I doubt very much you can do this without needing to open up a larger hole and repairing the ceiling when you are done.

Sometimes you can find replacement motors- which may quiet it down a bit.

This is what I decided to do. Broan makes a replacement motor ($30 at Lowes) that is someone quieter. The install was super quick--less than 15 minutes. Not the fan I'd install if I was starting from scratch, but at least it doesn't sound like a helicopter is landing on my roof anymore! :D
