that will let you "install" a ceiling fixture without having to cut a hole in the ceiling, run wire, install a box etc. Apparantly it runs from an already established outlet, up the wall across the ceiling to the place you choose and you can put a ceiling light (not a fan or chandelier) where you like.

Anyone know what I am talking about??:confused:

Aside from magic, you will have to run wire, and you will have to install a box, albeit a surface box. You won't be able to install a ceiling fan unless the box you install is securely attached to framing members and is a fan rated box. The site suggested by goldstar is a good one and should give you the information you need.
