I have a Tappan oven. I do not know the age, but the model # is 12-4990-00/04
I have 2 buttons I use to usually start/turn on the oven.
I have to push in the button to begin & then turn a knob for the desired temperature.
One is a pre heat button and one is an oven temperature button.
If I push a button now, then turn the knob to the desired temperature.... the temperature I stopped at(say 460 degrees) illuminates for about 10 seconds, then goes blank or dead. Oven won't turn on. Any thoughts?

Hello aid2me. Welcome to the Gas Appliances topic.
Unfortunately, I am not familiar with this model. Nor have I serviced one best as I can recall. May be a model not be sold in my area.
Suggestions:
Read the manufacturers on line web site for product information, problem possibilities, causes, solving methods, part locations, disassembly, reassembly methods, repair procedures, pictorials, schematics, repair and or owners manuals which may be available on line. Call the manufacturers service number.
Retail parts dealers and appliances parts stores can also help determine what the possible problem may be based upon that specific brand and model. Bring the make, model and serial numbers. Dealers and appliances parts stores are listed in the phone book.
