Doors and Windows - Door won't close in cold weather

We recently had a new front door installed. From the day of installation I could feel cold air drafting in from the top and bottom closing-side corners. Now that the temperatures have dropped below 20, the door won't close properly. The weather stripping can't be compressed enough to get the latch to catch. Fortunately, the deadbolt will still lock so we can at least keep the door closed. The weather stripping is the kind with a stiff edge that slides tightly into a dado (a narrow groove anyway) on the door stop and then has a fold of vinyl covered foam. It seems like I have to plane the door stop near the latch and shim it at the corners. Is there an easier way to do this?

not the first time it has happened. the door is improperly installed. if the door and frame had been plumbed and squared, you would not have this problem. that said, when it warms up, i would try to remove the trim on the door and the nails(at least on the lock side) and replumb the door to seal properly. it may cause some misalignment of the trim, but that can be dealt with. better than cold air. take your time. not that hard.
