I am attempting to remove a closet door... that looks as if it has no less than 4 coats of paint over it. This is presenting a problem:

We got down to the screws in the hinge and one of the screws is completely stripped. I guess we can just pull the hinge out of the wood, but I don't want to destroy the doorframe. Any hints/advice?:wall:

Thank you!

If the threads of the screw are stripped, pry behind the hinge with a thin putty knife and apply some pressure as you try to turn the screw out. Or are you saying that the head of the screw is stripped? If so, gently pry between the hinge plate and the door jamb. You might succeed in prying it out without cracking the jamb.

Otherwise you'll need a screw extractor.
