I just bought a new home with a HE260A humidifier installed. It appears that the unit was professionally installed. I took out the old filter and replaced it with a new one. The old one was covered with deposits.

There is no water flowing through the unit when it is on. I took off the water supply and verified that it was delivering water. I then took apart the solenoid to see if it was clogged. The connector from the water supply to the solenoid does not have a hole in it for water to move into the solenoid! Is that right?

Everything seems to be working as far as the electrical. When I set the humidstat, it clicks. I loosened the lock nut on the front of the solenoid some and it started humming so I think that is working.

What I can't figure out is how water gets into the thing since there is no hole in the connector. I even installed the connector to the supply line by itself - not threaded into the solenoid to see if water would shoot out. Nothing happened. How does water get into the system?

Thanks.

-------------------- EDIT ---------------------

Ok, I'm a dunce. I just couldn't let it go so I took the supply line to the solenoid off again and brought it upstairs where I could get a real good look at it. I noticed a very small hole that appeared to be clogged. I took a small nail and was able to clear it. Put some water in the other end and blew it out the small orifice. Re-installed everything and it is working like a champ.

Yes, those holes are very small, to control the water flow.

Glad to hear you got it all figured out, and working!

When comes spring (end of heating) shut the water valve off, and close the bypass damper.. Also I take the pad out and clean the tray and put in a new pad to be ready for winter.
