Hi,

I have a weil-mclain boiler for a hot water radiator system.

Aquastat was set to 190 all the time, I set it to 180, but based on my research, it seems that 150-160 is all that is really necessary to ensure that moisture doesnt build-up.

Is it possible to install an outdoor reset onto such an old boiler?

Can I set an outdoor reset to have a hard low-temperature of, say, 150F, so that if its really cold, the system works such that it heats the best, but it doesnt get too cool that moisture issues arise?

Thanks,

JMH

Hi I would certainly recommend an economizer for your boiler as the older boilers are typically the most oversized thereby the most wasteful with unused hot water sitting in the boiler, I would recommend using an economizer that uses the Heat Load of your system as a basis for adjusting the boiler cycle times and temp as opposed to using complicated, not as efficient out door resets such as the tekmar, taco, honeywell etc. The Intellicon is particularly interesting as it offers a complete money back guarantee where the outdoor resets don’t.
