I recently moved into a new house that has a Fleck 5600 water softner. I had my water tested today and is it very hard at 28. The sofner sounds like it is working, but obvously not. I also noticed it is leaking under the control drive thing. I can tell exactly where the leak comes from. I have no experience in water softners.

Any idea whats wrong? Should I get it repaired or replaced?

The Fleck 5600 is a workhorse and has a long and proven field history.

Your 5600 can be a number of different flavors... timer based, metered on demand, simple electronics.

Since you have two problems the quickest and easiest thing to do is hit the Yellow Pages under water treatment and look for independent water treatment pros. There usually is someone everywhere who services Fleck 5600s.

If you want to try to DIY then you need to identify the model 5600 you have and I can point you to the service manuals available for download.

I believe its the 5600 Econominder. I also took a look underneath the resin tank and water is leaking there as well. So two leaks I believe. I'm trying to test the timer, but not sure if that's even working.

So two leaks I believe.

That would be one resin tank, the one with the Fleck 5600 on it, and the brine tank, where the salt goes.
