The back door is rotted at the bottom on both sides and the sill. I will obviously replace the sill, but any ideas how to cheaply fix the door frame bottom without replacing the door frame?
Thanks

Hi jzeebas1,

Welcome to DoItYourself.com and the door & Window forum.

Depends on exactly what the door is.

I'm imaging that you are talking about a rail and stile wood door with some panels and possible a glass pane in it.

If that's the case, you'll need a small arsenal to tools (router, table saw, clamps to start with) to duplicate the parts that need replacing, and a free weekend or two. And you'll need a source for top grade lumber to make the parts out of -- something along the lines of vertical grain fir, poplar, clear pine, ...

Given the cost of the wood and the time involved, I would suggest spending about $150 at a big box store and buying a prehung metal door. That's about the amount on money that the wood to do the repair is going to cost, and the prehung can be installed in a matter of 4 to 6 hours -- less if you've done them before.
