Just installed a gas space heater in an apartment and when I push the pilot and ignitor as instructed the pilot lights correctly. The problem is when I let off the round pilot button the pilot goes out. I tried holding the pilot button down for a while as suggested by a friend but that doesn't work. Is this thing repairable or adjustable.

Is it new or what????? Is the pilot clean and good the thermocouple ok????;)
