My recessed lighting is configured to use a light bulb that is exposed or fitted right at the edge of the ceiling. I saw a lot of recessed light that the bulb is insided the housing with stainless trim in it. Is there a way to replace the my existing setup to have light bulb inside with stainless trim without redoing the housing?

Some housings allow you to adjust the height of the socket inside the housings. Take the bulb out to see if you see a wingnut and a slotted adjustment.
