I have been trying to get the bulb out of my kitchen recessed lighting fixture but the pins inside won't budge or maybe I am not doing something right. Its an old light (since the 1980's) and is one of those can-like things. It is flush to the ceiling, with a flat surround and another ring inside that. All that I can lift inside this is the flat glass, but it won't come out, nor can I get any of the covers off. I've tried goof-off and WD40 to see if I need to loosen the surrounding flat cover(s) first, but no luck. I think maybe the pins inside are bent or something. I just need to know which way they should be bent or whatever.

Most trim rings pull down from the ceiling. Perhaps yours has gotten painted over and is stuck to the ceiling.
Take a sharp utility knife and trace around the trim where it meets the ceiling to break the paint seal. Try to pry the trim in a downward fashion.

Thanks for your reply. I've done that already and it comes down a little but then seems to be stuck. I don't know if I should just try to yank it down, but I'm afraid it might damage something as it seems to be stuck by those clips inside or something.
