I'm staying with my parents temporarily while I get ready to move out of state for my job. My mom told me she wanted some boxes for her garden club plant sale, and since I had some left over from packing out in the garage, I gave them to her and she took them inside. I don't know what she was thinking, because she decided to cut the tops off the boxes using the arm of my faux suede couch as a platform.

Now my $800 couch with $450 matching loveseat has a nice 3" gash in the top of the right side arm. :wall:

Can it be repaired? Please help!

Sorry to tell you there's no way to repair it so that the tear is not noticible and will look like new again. Patches will not stick to it and it wouldn't look nice anyway. Darning it by hand might only be visible up close, but finding someone that can do this, may prove very difficult and would be costly.
Having it reupholstered may be the only answer. If they can find the exact fabric in the exact colorway, they could probably just replace that arm, and you'd probably have to get in touch with the manufacturer to buy the fabric from them, and again this will also be costly.

Toss a pretty scarf or afghan over it. Give your mom a hug.

Sigh. That's what I was afraid of. :(
