Bricks, Masonry, Asphalt and Concrete - Paint Brick to cover adhesive that will NOT come off

This house is my first home. The inside and size is perfect for me, however I am not in love with the outside. The front is brick and the sides is shingled. You can't see the sides from the curb. The front is boring and I am tempted to paint the shingles and brick the same color...However, I would like to look at all my options before I paint the brick.

There must have been some sort of awning attached to the top of the door and windows. I have pressure washed it and scraped it with wire brushes with adhesive remover with no success.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Old hardened caulking usually has to be "chipped" off of brick. I have used a glazier's putty knife (as a chisel) and hammer with varying degrees of success.

either in your pocket or the garage,,, just a handy tool.

you didn't mention what you're trying to remove but i'd bet its old caulk & you've gotten good advice for that already.

when you paint brick, its a permanent,,, & always a pita to remove even if possible.
