Hi

I have a thermador dual fuel oven, about 10 years old. One of the front burners has slowly but surely had a smaller and smaller flame output. Now it is piddly. The igniters (sp?) in general have become less and less consistent over the last 6 months but all the other burners look normal once they ignite. I have cleaned the burner (the part that is meant to be removable), so there is no debris actually in the burner itself.

This unit has another problem: the led display unit is very hard to read.

I have no interest in buying nor can I afford a new stove. So, first, if I can receive some guidance about the low flame problem, then that will help me figure out if I need to roll up my sleeves and start a larger overhaul of the unit. Maybe even convert the burners to the star burners.

Thanks

Hello egizzi. Welcome to the Gas Appliances topic.

In reference to the weak top burner spark igniter's, if that is what you mean by: "The igniters (sp?) in general have become less and less consistent over the last 6 months" the spark module for the top burners may be getting weak. Replacement of the module may be the only option. Part available at a local appliance parts store in your area.

In reference to the one burner that has a very small flame, very likely either the gas valve for that one burner is defective or the orifice to it might restricted. The orifice can be unscrewed from the burner, cleaned and replaced.

Be sure to count the number of turns it takes to fully seat closed the orifice first. Then remove it. Once checked, re install it to the fully closed position. Then open it back to the original setting.

In regards to the dim display panel, only solution may be to replace the touch pad. In quire at the appliance parts store. Ask what service agents do to resolve this problem.

I highly doubt converting (replacing) the burners will resolve anything. Far too costly. Plus all the above repairs, very likely to be rather expensive. Good Luck.
