I've heard that there are problems with these new anti=scald shower mixing valves when used with a tankless water heater. Any comments??

I would say talk to a specific manufacturer for recommendations, but a general comment would be this:

In a perfect scenario, tankless like a constant volume of hot water flowing. Pressure balance valves by their nature vary the flow of hot water. Houston, we have a problem!
