I want to put fluorescent lights in an unheated work shop. Temps will range from mid 20's to upper 90's. Any suggestions?

Wear a coat when it's that cold out.

Just make sure that the lights are designed for that temperature.

It depending on how big the shop you have and also inside tempture if unheated my suggest is use the T-8 or T-12 HO not the standard T-12 bulbs.

the reason why the standard T-12 can start pretty cold but it will be very dim some case it will be impossible to lit up.

otherhand with T-8 with electronic ballast it can lit up low as 0°F [-18°C] with the T-12 HO's they will lit up much lower low as -20°F [ -28°C ] but again it depending on the ballast label will stated the min starting tempture.

that is the critcal part you have to follow the listing.

Most cheap shoplights are very lousy when get that cold unless you got one of the two type of ballast as i mention above this statement.

Lights like to live where people like to live. I have great fluorescent lighting in my garage/workshop, but when it's cold, the lights are also flickering. Fortunately that means it's too cold for me too.

well if its cold, some manufacturers actually make fluos that work even at -15C. And yup, no matter how cold it gets, fluos wont flicker, but the light output will go down real bad. Using a HO (high output) T8 or T5 wont help, the mercury dose and the phosphors are so balanced that they give more light only under operating temp, and if u drop it to 20 F( am assuming F), tut tut tut. Anyway mate u gotta get them polar lamps, nofin else will do
