Hi everyone,
I am going to reupholster my chair and couch. I have studied a lot and am close to starting. My only hold back is that both of them have wooden faces on the arm fronts and the wing fronts on the back of the couch and chair. I have studied the chair and see how it should be taken apart but the wood has me stumped I don't see any tacks going through the front.
:wall: Thanks Sheree

Fabric is likely turned and stapled or tacked from beneath along wood trim. You will have to investigate to determine the method.

Upholsterer's have special tools and supplies that were probably used. I would do as Twelvepole said and then use a decorative gimp or braid to cover the staples. This would be the easier way, too.

Hello,
Thank you for the info  I will definitely study it before I start to remove the cloth. Sheree

Either the wood trim comes off somehow, it's a facade, then the arm is upholstered and the wood put back or there must be a trim hiding the staples. If it's a facade, and you don't see any small brad marks (perhaps it was put in with a brad with wood putty hiding the holes, look very carefully for a small filled in hole) or it is held on with a hook, try lifting the wood off the hooks, or there are nails you can't see that are attached to the wood before installed and the wood is banged on. Hard to tell from your description, you don't say the style or if its newer or an antique.
