I'd like to install a low voltage light in a cavity above an archway between two rooms in my house. I was looking at some fixtures on lighting websites that can be installed through a hole about 3" diameter. The fixtures have an integral transformer and use MR16 bulbs. I've also seen some fixtures that use MR11 bulbs. Here's the last one I looked at: http://www.usalight.com/recessed_lighting_hbl2re_c_54_p_1_pr_3.html

Below is a section view through the cavity I'd like to install the recessed fixture in. As you can see I would have to cut a hole through the sheetrock and the 2X6. Would an 'old work' fixture work here? Thanks for any input and ideas.
