I have a brass light fixture over the vanity in my bathroom. It is very functional but such an eyesore. Does anyone know of a product or technique to give brass a wood-like appearance? Or maybe even a more updated look?

Check local paint supply aisles at home centers and paint stores. Many have faux painting kits. You will find several, from verdigris to wood grain.
