I am replacing a powered humidifier with the 500M and I am trying to follow the wiring instructions provided with the 500M. See link:

My furnace low voltage terminals are as follows:
R - GH - W - GC - Y - C
Thermostat connected to R, W, GC, and Y terminals.

I don't have a HUM terminal (like on newer furnaces) or the A50, so could I power the humidifier solenoid with W terminal so that the humidifier is powered when the thermostat calls heat?

Yes, you could piggy back on W and C for your humidifier.. Hopefully that transformer on the furnace is big enough to support the extra load.
